Definitive closure of the thrift shop and emergency services starting June 1.
The Grossesse-Secours team is reorganizing its services. During the planning meeting, the Board of Directors and the work team decided to review the service offering, which resulted in the closure of the community thrift shop (including 50% referrals) and the cessation of emergency services, in order to refocus on listening and sex education services.
The decision to discontinue these services was difficult. The thrift shop has been very popular in recent years. However, the funding granted to the organization each year is insufficient to enable us to offer these services on an ongoing basis. In recent years, lack of funding has caused major employee retention issues in the thrift shop and other Grossesse-Secours services.
In the meantime, the thrift shop remains open by appointment only. As for emergency services, we’ll accept references until June 1 based on what we have in stock. After that, it won’t be possible to make an appointment at the thrift shop or receive goods on an emergency basis.
Thank you for your understanding! The entire Grossesse-Secours team hopes you have a great day.
